More axes on one Ethernet line
Each MSP unit connects in series over Ethernet. Cascading does not change that unit's supply, motor range, or pulse level.

Adding an axis adds a unit
More axes do not mean another central motion controller. Each added axis adds the matching MSP unit, connected in series with Ethernet. XMatrix still sees those axes from one entry.
The three units can share one line
| Unit | Its own supply | Unchanged by the cascade |
|---|---|---|
| Integrated stepper drive | DC 24–48 V | Frames 20–86, open or closed loop |
| Integrated servo drive | AC 220 V | 100–1500 W, incremental or absolute |
| MSP1001 | AC 110–220 V | 5 V step and direction, 100 kHz maximum |
The cascade provides one communication path. Each unit retains its rated supply, motor range, and interface conditions.
The software entry stays the same
- Hardware configuration, motion checks, and parameters stay on the same screens.
- Wire each unit's motor and sensors from that unit's own page.
- For a larger system, record each axis motor range, MSP unit, and supply before defining the cascade configuration.
Cascade configuration
Application: each axis is inside its own published range, and they should appear in one project over Ethernet.
Configuration: record the supply, motor range, and interface conditions for each axis.
