XMatrix software system
XMatrix is the software system of XMSP. Together with MSP hardware it makes the complete system. Choose the software function the project needs: Online, Offline, Command, DMX512, API-SDK, or another published function.
Choose the software function the project needs
XMatrix is the software system of XMSP. Choose the function the project needs. Every function shares the same moves, axis parameters, and commissioning logic.
| Software function you need | XMatrix function | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| No code, run from a PC while connected | XMatrix Online | Run, adjust, and trigger moves on site |
| No code, then run with the PC removed | XMatrix Offline | The controller runs a prepared move on its own |
| Your own software sends short commands | XMatrix Command Interface | A host application, industrial software, or a script |
| Lighting, stage, or exhibition systems | XMatrix DMX512 Interface | Connect a lighting console or stage software |
| Call motion from inside your own program | XMatrix API-SDK | Wrap a process, or ship your own software product |
| The standard modes do not cover the project | XMatrix OEM | A custom function, screen, or communication method |
After the software function is chosen, wiring and terminals are in XMatrix Features × MSP Hardware. The software segment of an XMSP configuration code still uses the compatible codes: XR-Online / XR-Offline / Command / DMX512 / API-SDK / OEM. Older codes UDP-… are still recognized as the command interface.
How an XMSP configuration is built
The XMatrix software function and the MSP hardware are chosen separately. Set the software function first, then choose hardware by motor, power, and interface. Together they are the XMSP system. When the motor type or power step changes, the application-level way of working can stay the same.
Model, voltage, power, and axis count are on each hardware page.
How the software lands on three kinds of hardware
How to compare them
On the same hardware, the difference is where the sequence runs and how the command is given:
| Software function | Where it runs | How you command it | Must the PC stay on? | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XMatrix Online | PC host software | Mouse: cue → sequence → run | Yes | Integrators and commissioning engineers who are not writing code |
| XMatrix Offline | On the controller | Transfer the project, then trigger from power-up / DI / the network | The PC can leave after the transfer | Production units, unattended machines, equipment that leaves the shop |
| XMatrix Command Interface | Your program | ASCII commands (the published transport is UDP) | Depends on where your program runs | Software, automation, or vision engineers |
| DMX slave | Lighting console | Faders / channels | No extra industrial PC is required for the motors | Lighting, multimedia, stage machinery |
| DMX online master | PC + master board | XMatrix runs the move; the master forwards DMX | Yes | A multi-unit matrix that still needs a DMX bus when there is no console |
| DMX offline master | Master board | Stored moves + start / trigger | The PC can leave after the transfer | Fixed moves that run on site without a PC |
| XMatrix API-SDK | Your local program | Call functions in the development package | The PC stays on while the program runs | Desktop software, a local agent, an industrial HMI |
| XMatrix OEM | As agreed in the contract | A dedicated command, channel, DLL, or screen | Depends on the plan | An industry-specific job, a process the standard modes do not express, or a project that needs a boundary around the software |
Choose the software function from where the sequence runs, how it is commanded, and whether a PC stays on site. The differences among DMX slave, online master, and offline master are in the table above.
Suggested reading order
- Use the table above to choose the XMatrix software function.
- Open that section and finish commissioning in order. If the standard interface is not enough, open the OEM page.
- For wiring and parts, see XMatrix Features × MSP Hardware: what homing, limits, and the brake need, and which terminal they land on.
- The full command set, the full parameter list, or the SDK is in XMatrix Technical Documents.
How the motor is connected is in the hardware overview. If the conditions are not fully settled, start with XMSP Quick Start.
