Product notes

XMSP structure: trigger interface, XMatrix runtime, motion algorithms, cascade port, and three drive paths

01XMSP Architecture:No PLC, No Motion Controller

XMSP = XMatrix software + MSP hardware. XMatrix sequences the motion, chooses how it runs, and provides the system interfaces. MSP hardware — the drive, the motor, and the matching parts — performs the control and turns the motor.

One less purchased system, one less protocol to join. You do not start from ladder logic or motor-control code.

XMSP is XMatrix software plus three MSP hardware paths
One control entry: the integrated stepper drive runs a stepper, the integrated servo drive runs a servo, and a third-party drive connects through MSP1001.

Online, offline, and the interfaces stay in one software system.

The drive combines motion control and the motor drive, and Ethernet extends it to more axes.

Software functions and hardware units are combined for the project.

02MSP Hardware:One Software Path across Different Motors

Standard MSP hardware drives a stepper directly, drives a servo directly, or connects a general third-party drive. Setup and control stay the same, so you learn them once.

Change the motor, keep the software. How a move is written, how parameters are set, and which screen you use do not change with the motor.

Motor path What it covers
MSP integrated stepper drive Two-phase hybrid steppers in frame sizes 20, 28, 35, 42, 57, 60, and 86. Open loop, closed loop, and a brake.
Models: MSP20, MSP28, MSP35, MSP42, MSP57, MSP60, MSP86.
MSP integrated servo drive Matching AC servo motors at 100 W, 200 W, 400 W, 750 W, 1000 W, and 1500 W. Brake and absolute encoder options; closed loop with an encoder is standard.
Models: MSP100, MSP200, MSP400, MSP750, MSP1000, MSP1500.
MSP1001 single-axis controller Third-party stepper or servo drives that accept step and direction, including nonstandard motors on that interface.
Model: MSP1001.

MSP Integrated Stepper Drive

Two-phase hybrid steppers in frame sizes 20, 28, 35, 42, 57, 60, and 86. Open loop, closed loop, and a brake.

Models: MSP20, MSP28, MSP35, MSP42, MSP57, MSP60, MSP86.

03XMatrix Software:From No-Code Control to Your Own System

XMatrix is the XMSP software system. Online, offline, command, DMX512, and API are selectable functions. Underneath, they share the same moves, axis parameters, and setup logic.

One XMatrix, more than one industry. Use it directly, or bring MSP hardware into your own system instead of writing a separate motion program.

Beyond the standard functions, contact us for an XMatrix OEM adaptation.

XMatrix in XMSP: online, offline, command, DMX512, API, and OEM
Different functions, the same XMatrix: choose the run mode or interface from how the motion is organized and how an external system connects. The move description, axis parameters, and setup screens stay shared.
XMatrix mode or interface What it is for
XMatrix Online No code. Sequence the motion in XMatrix for one motor or several, with IO, network, and automatic triggers. Run and adjust it while the PC stays connected.
XMatrix Offline No code. Download the sequence to the drive. One motor or several, with IO, network, and automatic triggers. The drive then runs the prepared motion by itself.
XMatrix command interface Send ASCII commands to MSP. The built-in parser runs the motion, for one motor or several.
XMatrix DMX512 As a DMX512 slave, P, PV, PPV, and V values become motor motion. It connects to systems such as MA Lighting, MADRIX, and TouchDesigner.
XMatrix API Your program calls the MSP motion functions and ships them inside your own software.
XMatrix OEM The process, screen, and communication become the customer's own control interface. Contact us.

Choose the software function from how the machine runs and which external interface it uses. A machine runs in the selected mode; the modes are not all active at once.

04More Axes:Ethernet Cascade, from One Axis to a Mixed Group

MSP grows with the number of axes. One axis becomes several. Stepper drives, servo drives, and third-party drives can share one Ethernet control line. Adding axes does not change XMatrix or the way you set it up.

Add axes, not another controller. You do not buy a second controller for multiple axes, and you do not learn a second software package.

05Matching Parts:From Motion Control to the Mechanism

MSP also supplies sensors, gearboxes, and linear stages. After the control mode, drive, and motor are chosen, flange, load, speed, travel, and mounting can be matched in the same place.

Control and mechanism in one selection. You do not check interfaces and mounting dimensions across separate suppliers.

AppendixFAQ

Do I really not need a PLC or a motion controller?

The MSP unit integrates the motion controller and the motor drive. It handles the motion, the axis parameters, and the related IO. XMatrix provides the functions, so you do not add an external PLC motion controller or write ladder logic. That removes a layer of development and shortens the project.

How much of the software is shared?

The three MSP entries — direct stepper, direct servo, and a third-party drive — hide the motor differences inside XMatrix and expose one parameter set. One axis or many, stepper or servo, you learn the software once. You do not also learn a PLC, a motion controller, and an automation language.

Can the stepper drive, the servo drive, and MSP1001 share one chain?

Yes. All three use XMatrix and can be mixed in one project according to the motor and drive on each axis.

Can the machine keep running after the PC disconnects?

XMatrix Offline runs without the PC. Whether online mode or the command interface stays connected depends on the selected mode and the project.

What does multi-axis interpolation do?

The architecture supports one axis, coordinated axes, and interpolation. Point-to-point multi-axis interpolation is available now. Contact us if the machine needs path interpolation.

Can MSP1001 connect to every third-party drive?

A drive that accepts step and direction can be connected. If that is uncertain, contact us and we will check it. RS485 communication with a third-party drive can also be adapted when the process needs it.

Which hardware path should I start with?

Frame sizes 20, 28, 35, 42, 57, 60, and 86, two-phase steppers: the integrated stepper drive. Matching AC servos at 100 W, 200 W, 400 W, 750 W, 1000 W, and 1500 W: the integrated servo drive. An existing drive or another rating: MSP1001. All three share the same move description, parameters, and setup screens.
