Online or offline execution
Use online execution while the sequence is still changing, or while the software must stay in the loop. After the sequence is downloaded, the computer can leave and the unit executes on its own.
- OnlineComputer stays in the loop
- OfflineRuns after download
- ScreensSame hardware setup
- ChangeoverWithin one project
The difference is whether the computer stays in the loop
Online execution leaves the computer in the loop. Use it while the motion is still being changed, or when the machine needs the software connected during operation. Closing the computer or losing the link stops online execution.
After the sequence is fixed, offline execution downloads it to the MSP unit. The unit executes on its own after the computer disconnects, including the power-up behavior published for that unit. Inputs and UDP can start the sequence.
Both modes share the hardware configuration
| Online | Offline | |
|---|---|---|
| Computer | Stays on site | Can leave after the download |
| Changing the sequence | Execute again after the edit | Download again after the edit |
| Hardware setup, checks, parameters | The same screens | The same screens |
| Trigger | Manual, DI, UDP, and others | Inputs, UDP, and others |
Online and offline execution share the hardware setup, commissioning, and parameter screens, and can be selected within the same project.
After power-up, use the note for that unit
- Offline execution starts with the power-up behavior configured for the selected MSP unit.
- Power-up flow, input conditions, and operating parameters follow the parameter information for that unit.
- Use online execution when business software on the computer remains part of the live sequence.
Operating conditions
Application: it is already clear whether a computer must stay on site.
Configuration: whether the trigger is a button, an input, or UDP, and whether execution must continue after the computer leaves.
